The belts are not expensive- maybe 20-40- but replacement can be onerous, leading to high costs to replace at the shop- 300 for a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer. Not sure what else to check at this point.I inspected the valve open/close patterns by turning cam one full turn:ġ. I checked them to ground and to themselves with no continuity. Just hope that when the belt broke you did not bend any valves as that will be costly to fix. You need to get a timing belt and fix it. I decided to check the two positive wires going to the starter to see if there was a short or something. Im not familiar with the Mitsubishi 2.4.I did have to replace the fuel pump in this car a few months ago. I am assuming you mean timing belt as these cars did not come stock with timer belts. The 2003 Mitsubishi Gallant appears to have been offered with both a 4 Cylinder 2.4L Engine, the 4G64, which had three variants: Dual Overhead Cam 16 valve, Single Overhead Cam 16 valve, and Single Overhead Cam 8 valve. I installed it in my car and it’s doing the same exact thing… I hooked a portable jump starter just in case to see if what I had wasn’t enough since it seemed to pass the bench test with no luck. I got another one and had them bench test it before leaving and they stated it was fine. Since I had the starter out, I took it back to autozone for a bench test and they stated that it failed the test. I can’t have someone crank the engine since the starter won’t engage. gearbox timing belt broke down for lancer wagon Cs5w year 2003. i have the same car, found out the leak is coming from the valve cover and crank case (oilpan). maybe the leak is not in the cam or crank oil seals. I couldn’t get full access to the timing belt, but I went ahead and manually turned the crankshaft anyways which was not seized. Found that all the teeth, which were visible, were there and didn’t seem damaged. I took the starter out and checked the teeth on the flywheel. Sounds to me like your out of gas, or your fuel filter is in need of change, or fuel pump no good. Replaced the whole cylinder head and crankshaft sensor but wont start. I checked voltage to the B+ terminal and S terminal to find that my readings were fine (B+ reading = battery reading. Before taking it out, I performed a volt test according to the pamphlet which came with the new one. ![]()
